Stephen Dennison

Trustee

Stephen Dennison joined the Board of VTCT Trustees in 2013.

Stephen has a degree in Modern History from Oxford University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Management institute.

His first career was in the shipping industry, from graduate trainee through to Divisional Director for marine services, including four years managing a transport company in Saudi Arabia in the 1970s and four years as managing director of a range of local shipping joint ventures in Nigeria in the 1980s; concluding in the direction of towage and marine services in twelve port and oil terminal facilities in UK and Ireland.

He changed careers in 1997 and joined the inaugural executive board of Edexcel Foundation as Director for Strategy and Development that included responsibility for overall BTEC product management, all international examination and assessment business, both academic and vocational, and the contracting with UK government for assessment and testing services to schools.

In 2000 Stephen chose to become freelance in the educational services sector and he has completed to date fourteen interim assignments with educational clients as diverse as learndirect, London Gifted and Talented, the General Dental Council, the Royal Horticultural Society, the Alliance of Sector Skills Councils, University of London and the International Baccalaureate and a number of short consultancies including for KPMG and Cap Gemini.

Stephen is a Governor of Godalming College (and Chairman of the Curriculum committee) and Chairman of Cranleigh Arts Centre.
