COVID-19 Information for Ireland

Information for Ireland based Training Providers

The Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic has affected countries around the world where iTEC & VTCT have a presence. Our initial advice for centres is that we encourage you to first follow the guidance of the government, whether at the national or local level, where you live and work, and then include the guidance given by iTEC in your overall process and adaptations. For centres in Ireland, government guidance can be found by clicking here. iTEC & VTCT are fully compliant with Irish government measures as part of our social responsibility obligations to the community.

Documentation

We have released new documentation to support centres with remote examinations:

Certification Update

In response to the Prime Minister’s latest announcement (4th January) regarding a third English lockdown and the restrictions imposed on training/education establishments across the UK and Ireland, VTCT and iTEC have taken the decision to temporarily pause certificate printing activities until 1st March 2021.

If you have recently submitted a certificate claim* and your learners require their certificates before normal services are resumed, please do not hesitate to contact the Processing Department directly at certification@vtct.org.uk or call our Customer Support Team on 02380 684 500 to arrange printing. A small team will be operating at the VTCT office to support urgent requests.

*Please note, only approved and processed certificate claims are eligible for printing. Certificates for unsubmitted claims or claims requiring EQA approval cannot be printed until the necessary processes have been completed.

Resources

iTEC has developed resources to help our centres in Ireland in the delivery of their qualification in the “new normal” of COVID-19. Please see the links below for additional documents and information on resources that are available for centres:

New COVID-19 Awareness Qualifications

In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, iTEC & VTCT are the first Awarding Body to introduce a number of sector-specific, Government regulated COVID-19 infection prevention qualifications for a variety of different industries. These qualifications are now a prerequisite requirement for a majority of iTEC qualifications that contain close contact services. You can see the list of qualifications that require a prerequisite by clicking here

Whilst the qualifications naturally align with the government’s generic public health guidelines relating to specific types of workplaces (handwashing, face coverings, social distancing etc), these qualifications also contain additional unique, bespoke treatment-specific content which goes much further than general advice about the working environment. The comprehensive content has been written specifically so that instructors do not need to adapt content created for general audiences to fit their needs. The objectives and outcomes of these qualifications are both relevant and targeted to their specific industry.

Webinar support

We are currently hosting virtual meetings (via GoToWebinar) to address the delivery of specific qualifications, including our new Covid-19 qualifications. You can find recordings of the webinars and associated FAQs below.
