Barbara Mitchell


Barbara is committed to improving access to high quality vocational education having seen the life-changing differences it can make to the learner.

After lecturing in Business Studies, Barbara joined City & Guilds and progressed through a number of roles in Sales, Corporate Development and Product, to Director level. She provided commercial support to several corporate business developments and initiated and led a major strategic restructuring of the development directorates. Barbara managed the Learning and Assessment Development Committee, a Senior Committee of City & Guilds Institute, drawing opinions and advice from representatitives of all sectors and participants in the vocational educational market.

Since retiring three years ago, Barbara has become a Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) volunteer advisor and Chair of Trustees for her small local church.

Barbara brings to VTCT her passion for, and long experience in, the Vocational awarding sector.
